Barton Seaver is one of the world’s leading sustainable seafood experts and educators. He is on a mission to restore our relationship with the ocean, the land, and with each other—through dinner. Barton is a firm believer that human health depends on the health of the ocean and that the best way to connect the two is at the dinner table. He is the founder of Coastal Culinary Academy, a multi-platform initiative that seeks to increase seafood consumption through seafood-specific culinary education for all levels of cooks, which includes the online program SeafoodLiteracy.com. He also advises food service operators across various sectors, from college and university dining services to Marriott International. After an illustrious career as an award-winning chef, he became an Explorer with the National Geographic Society. His expertise has garnered him positions with the United States Culinary Ambassador Corp, the New England Aquarium, and the Harvard School of Public Health leading initiatives informing consumers and institutions about how food choices promote healthier people, environment, and thriving communities.

An internationally recognized speaker, Barton has delivered lectures, seminars, and demos to a multitude of audiences. He has written eight seafood-centric books, including For Cod and Country and American Seafood and has contributed to dozens of publications, including Cooking Light, The New York Times, and Saveur, among many others. He has appeared on 60 Minutes, CNN, NPR, 20/20 and the TED Talk stage. Barton resides in coastal Maine just a stone's throw away from a working waterfront, with his wife and two sons.
