Research Interests

I am a quantitative disease ecologist – I use field surveys, lab experiments, and mathematical models to understand and quantify the role of infectious disease in marine populations, communities, and ecosystems. I am interested in using these methods to understand basic questions, such as how pathogens are transmitted in the oceans, and how they interact with hosts to maintain and/or deplete our marine biodiversity. In addition, I use these methods to inform management of fisheries, aquaculture, and the wild ecosystems that comprise our oceans.
